Autism is a complex mental condition and developmental disability, characterized by difficulties in the way a person communicates and interacts with other people. Military children are our nation’s children. Living in either military or civilian communities, in urban, suburban, or rural settings, military children experience unique challenges related to military life and culture. These include deployment-related stressors such as parental separation, family reunification, and reintegration. Due to frequent moves, many military children experience disrupted relationships with friends, and must adapt to new schools and cultivate new community resources. Some children also experience the trauma of welcoming home a parent who returns with a combat injury or illness, or of facing a parent’s death. Recent research reveals an increase in military child maltreatment and neglect since the start of combat operations and deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq.

7. National Volunteer Week is an annual celebration observed in the United States and in Canada in mid to late April, to promote and show appreciation for volunteerism in the two countries. In the United States it is organized by the Point of Light foundation.”

National Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is recognized on the fourth Thursday in April each year. This annual event is an educational program in the United States and Canada where parents take their children to work with them for one day. It is the successor of Take Our Daughters to Work Day which, in 2003, was expanded to include boys. Most companies allowed both girls and boys to participate since the beginning, renaming the day “Take Our Children to Work Day.

Our research found that National Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day was founded by Gloria Steinem and the Ms. Foundation for Women in 1993. National Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is an “unofficial” National holiday.

3. National Titanic Remembrance Day
Each year on April 15th, National Titanic Remembrance Day is observed. This day is dedicated to the memory of when the Titanic sank into the icy waters of the North Atlantic Ocean in April, 1912. We remember the more than 1,500 people who died that day.

April 15 of each year is National Tax Day. In the United States, Tax Day is a term for the day on which individual income tax returns are due to the federal government. Tax Day may also refer to April 15 for state tax returns.
Since 1955, Tax Day, for those living in the United States, has typically fallen on April 15.
